AIAA Graduate Scholarships
The Foundation and the Technical Committees of AIAA annually
present separate graduate student awards worth $5000 and $10,000.
The winners may have an opportunity to present their award-winning
research at an AIAA Conference.
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation,
in conjunction with AIAA Technical Committees (TCs), is seeking
applications for the AIAA Foundation Graduate Awards. These awards
are intended for graduate-level students who indicate, by their
approved department research, an interest in any of the areas
listed. The purpose of this program is to provide awards to qualified
students actively participating in these specific research endeavors
as part of their graduate studies. These endeavors include master's
or doctoral thesis research and master's (non-thesis option) research
projects.

AIAA Undergraduate Scholarships
The AIAA Foundation undergraduate scholarship program awards
30 scholarships of $2000 - $2,500 to college sophomores, juniors,
and seniors each year. All participants can apply to renew the
scholarships annually until graduation.
This program was instituted in the fall of 1977 and now presents
thirty scholarships annually as follows, provided worthy candidates
are available:
$2,000 each to one or more college sophomores.
$2,000 each to one or more college juniors.
$2,000 each to one or more college seniors

Alvin E. Betzel, Sr. Scholarship
Awarded to entering and continuing students in Mechanical Engineering.
Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA or better; be in good standing
with the University, demonstrate financial need. The award is
$500 per semester for the Fall and Spring semesters.

AVL Summer Workshop
The Autonomous Vehicles Laboratory (AVL) Summer Workshops are of one week duration and designed to provide students with a broad exposure to the exciting area of autonomous vehicles. The workshop involves dissemination of learning materials as well as hands on experience on projects in a design and build environment. The primary focus is on team-building, collective decision making and problem solving for challenges motivated by realistic competition scenarios. Field trips and demonstrations supplement the classroom activities.

Igor Fraiberg Endowed Scholarship in Engineering
Preference given to Mechanical or Metallurgical Majors. Total
Award: $5,000: $2,500 Fall semester, $2,500 Spring semester.
Awarded to undergraduate engineering sophomore, junior or senior
with 3.0 GPA. Awardee must demonstrate financial need. Short essay
describing career goals must accompany application

Memorial Scholarship
An annual award of $500 for
full-time engineering or science students who maintain

Robert Hancock Memorial Scholarship
An annual award of $500 for the best technical paper written
by a student and published in the Journel of IEST. Topics for the
papers must be in the fields of science or engineering. The Journel
Editorial Board will determine the recipient of the award. For

Joe R. Martin Scholarship Program
Awarded to outstanding high school students who intend to major
in Mechanical Engineering and to continuing Mechanical Engineering
undergraduates who demonstrate high academic achievement. Students
must have a 3.0 GPA. The award is $500 per semester for the Fall
and Spring semesters for up to four years.

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Graduate Student Scholarship
A limited number of Doctoral Scholarships are available for entering Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering doctoral students. The general guidelines for eligibility for the Graduate Dean Doctoral Fellowship include an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 plus any graduate credit hours of 3.25. Nominees must also hold an assistantship of at least 25% time. The fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis. The award of a Graduate Dean Doctoral Fellowship does not preclude other financial aid.
Renewal of the Graduate Dean Doctoral Fellowship is for a maximum of three years for students who maintain a GPA of 3.25 each semester. Students who drop enrollment below 6 hours will not be renewed in subsequent semesters. Students holding a 50% assistantship must maintain full-time enrollment of at least 9 hours. Students who change majors will not be renewed in the semester following the change of major.
NASA Science and Technology Scholarship Program
Congress has recently approved the establishment of the NASA
Science and Technology Scholarship Program. It is anticipated
that this scholarship will provide full tuition leading up to
a 4 year degree in Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Technology.
It is expected that upon graduation recipients will work for NASA
for 2 years for each year of scholarship that they received with
a maximum of 4 years commitment.

NASA/Texas Space Grant Consortium
Scholarships for junior and senior-level students interested
in space-related education and research. These $1,000 scholarships
are nontransferable. Award payments will be made in two equal
installments of $500. TSGC encourages participation by members
of under-represented groups. All NASA/TSGC Undergraduate Scholarship
recipients must be citizens of the United States, registered for
full-time study as a junior or senior-level student in good standing
at a TSGC member institution, demonstrate, through their GPA,
excellence in academics, show interest in space-related education
and/or research, as reflected in a written personal statement.

NASA/Texas Space Grant Consortium
Fellowships have been established to encourage graduate study
in the fields of space science and engineering. Applications from
women and underrepresented students are encouraged. Interdisciplinary
and integrated work experience are emphasized. Each award of five
thousand dollars ($5,000) will supplement half-time graduate support
(or fellowship) provided by a Consortium institution. Recipients
(1) must be citizens of the United States, (2) must be registered
for full-time study in a graduate program at one (or more) of
the Consortium institutions, (3) must be promised financial support
at that institution, and (4) must not have exceeded the time limit
described under "duration".

National Defense Science and Engineering Fellowships
The National Defense Science and Engineering Fellowship program
(NSDEG) is administered by the Department of Defense (DoD). Fellowships
are awarded for study and research leading to doctoral degrees in
mathematical, physical, biological, cognitive, neural, and ocean
and engineering sciences. DoD plans to award at least 150 new three-year
graduate fellowships in April 2001. The DoD will offer these fellowships
to individuals who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude
for advanced training in science and engineering. The NSDEG covers
all fees and currently the first-year stipend is $27,500. While
sponsored by the Department of Defense, fellows are not required
or expected to sign up for military service.

North Texas Association of Energy Engineers (NTAEE)
The North Texas Association of Energy Engineers (NTAEE) is pleased to offer this application for scholarship to students pursuing an education in the energy arena. Students active in, or entering into, a post-secondary education program focused in energy engineering, energy management or energy technology-related fields at accredited colleges, universities and technical schools are invited to apply.

NSF Graduate Fellowships
The NSF offers recognition and three years of support for advanced
study to approximately 900 outstanding graduate students in the
mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, and behavioral
and social sciences, including the history of science and the
philosophy of science, and to research-based PhD degrees in science
education. Awards are also offered for Women in Engineering (WENG)
and Women in Computer and Information Science (WICS). Offers a
stipend of $27,500.

The Spirit of Apollo Scholarship
The Houston Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is pleased to announce the Spirit of Apollo Scholarship for the 2007-2008 school year in the amount of $1000. The first half ($500) will be available for the Fall Semester. The second half ($500) will be available for the Spring Semester. Eligibility requirements must be met for both the Fall and Spring semesters.

Stephen T. Kugle Scholarship
Available to senior students in Mechanical Engineering. This
award is based on leadership and professional service. Students
must have been an ASME member for two years and provided service
to the ME profession by leadership in ASME.

Texas Chapter SAWE Scholarship
Awarded to continuing Aerospace Engineering majors who have
completed 70 semester hours toward their degree with a GPA of
2.5 or better. U.S. Citizenship is required.The award is $1,000;
$500 per semester for the Fall and Spring semesters.
Deadline for application is April
15.
Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Scholarship
Available to Mechanical Engineering majors with at least 24
credit hours of math, science, and engineering at UTA. Students
must be active ASME or SAE members with a GPA of at least 3.0.
The award is $500 per semester for the Fall and Spring semesters.
