C. Ray Wimberly, Ph.D., P.E.
Senior Lecturer

Education: Ph.D. Texas A and M University, 1968 - M.S. University of Alabama, 1965 - B.S. Texas A and M University, 1961.

Area of Expertise: Advanced Dynamics, Flight Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Transpiration Cooling, Hydro/Ocean/Buoy Dynamics.

Background: Dr. Wimberly has extensive academic teaching, research and administrative experience at the University of Mississippi, Montana State University, Louisiana Tech University, Memphis University and at the University of Texas at Arlington. His research interests have included funded projects by the NSF, USAF Flight Dynamics Laboratory, Army Research Office, NASA, NOAA, and the US Army Ballistics Research Laboratory that resulted in numerous publications in transpiration cooling, flight dynamics, co-generation, buoy dynamics, internal ballistics, convective heating of alluvial spheres, convective heating of reentry vehicles, and hydrodynamic fouling of ocean-going vessels.

Academic experience has also included positions as Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, Department Chairman of Mechanical Engineering at Montana State University, and Dean of Engineering at Louisiana Tech University and at Memphis University. Dr. Wimberly has been registered as a Professional Engineer in three states, and for many years has been member of the ASME and ASEE and AIAA societies.
