Kent L. Lawrence, Ph.D., P.E. - Professor

Education: Ph.D. Arizona State University, 1965 ~ M.S.M.E. Texas Tech University, 1960 ~ B.S.M.E. Texas Tech University, 1959

Areas of Expertise: Stress and vibration analysis, structural analysis, structural dynamics, finite element methods, and computer aided design.

Background: Professor Lawrence has had industrial experience in the design and development of computer based analytical methods for the static and dynamic response of engineering systems, particularly in the structures area. Dr. Lawrence has been on the faculty of UT Arlington since 1964. He spent the summer months of 1965-1973 as an engineer in the dynamics group, Bell Helicopter/Textron. From 1976 to 1981, he worked under contract to the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, Kirkland AFB, on the development of digital computer simulation methods for airborne pointing and tracking systems. In addition, he has had experience in the analysis of elastomeric bearings, and helicopter rotor systems. He recently has been involved with the development of algorithms for finite element analysis error estimation, and adaptive mesh refinement for both two and three dimensional applications as well as the implementation of web-based engineering solutions.
